Learn how to use PromptPDF effectively

Editing Documents

After generating a document with AI, you may want to edit and refine it before exporting. PromptPDF provides powerful editing capabilities to help you perfect your documents.

The Editor Interface

PromptPDF includes a code editor that allows you to edit your document content directly. To access the editor:

  1. Generate a document using your chosen template and AI model
  2. Click on the "Editor" tab in the preview section
  3. The editor will display your document content in editable form

Basic Editing

The editor supports standard text editing operations:

  • Add or delete text
  • Copy and paste content
  • Format text with markdown syntax (for markdown format)
  • Organize content into paragraphs

Formatting Text

You can format your text using various techniques:

Bold Text

To make text bold, surround it with double asterisks:

**This text will be bold**

Italic Text

To italicize text, surround it with single asterisks:

*This text will be italic*

Lists

Create bullet lists using hyphens or asterisks:

- Item 1 - Item 2 - Item 3

Create numbered lists using numbers:

1. First item 2. Second item 3. Third item

Language Selection

The editor includes a language selector that helps with syntax highlighting:

  • Plain Text: For general document editing
  • Markdown: For documents using markdown formatting
  • LaTeX: For academic papers and documents with mathematical notation
  • HTML: For web content
  • Other languages: For code documentation and technical content

Refining AI-Generated Content

When editing AI-generated content, consider these best practices:

  • Check for accuracy: Verify that all facts and information are correct
  • Personalize content: Add personal details or specific information that the AI might not have included
  • Adjust tone: Modify the language to match your preferred tone and style
  • Remove redundancies: AI sometimes repeats information; edit for conciseness
  • Fix formatting issues: Ensure consistent formatting throughout the document
  • Add missing information: Include any details that were not in your original prompt

Regenerating Content

If you're not satisfied with the generated content, you can:

  1. Refine your prompt with more specific instructions
  2. Click "Refine Document" to generate a new version
  3. Compare the new version with your edited version
  4. Choose the best elements from each

Previewing Changes

After editing your document:

  1. Click on the "Preview" tab to see how your document will look
  2. Check formatting, layout, and overall appearance
  3. Make additional edits if needed
  4. When satisfied, proceed to exporting your document
